How can this, which is so beautiful it has a colour named after it…
…turn into this?
I saw the first robin in the yard today getting ready to nest and make its alien babies once again. This is last year’s hatch, conveniently located on our deck to make photography easy.
I mean really. Grow some feathers.

I am always amazed at how primitive and alien-looking newly hatched birds are. Equally amazing is how fast they grow and change into real birds.

I’m still listening and watching to see the first robins return to our area. One of these days …..

I once found a baby robin and had to raise it but it already had most of its wings by the time I had it. It learned to dig for worms in a big salad bowl that I filled with dirt and worms. One day he just flew away I guess he was ready! We named him little pig because he would eat a worm in one fell swoop!
